Applying to study abroad can feel overwhelming—but with Abacus, you have expert guidance at every step. Here’s how we help you navigate the process, from start to finish.
When to Start
- ● Start Early:
Begin your application at least 2–3 months before university deadlines. Early applications give you the best chance at your preferred university and course.
How to Get Application Forms
- ● Download Online:
Most universities offer downloadable application forms or online application portals. - ● Request by Mail:
Alternatively, write to the university and request forms, mentioning the intake/semester you want to join.
Filling the Application
Use Photocopies First:
Practice on photocopies if you have physical forms, to avoid mistakes.Write Names Correctly:
Last Name/Family Name: Surname (e.g., ‘Adivi’)
First Name: Given/Primary name (e.g., ‘Srikanth’)
Middle Name: Additional given name (e.g., ‘Reddy’)
Year Names (for US):
1st Year: Freshman
2nd: Sophomore
3rd: Junior
4th: Senior
Documents Checklist
Submit these documents to each university/college you apply to:
- Completed Application Form
- Transcripts
- ○ 10th & 12th: Attested copies (not sealed)
- ○ Degree marks & provisional: In sealed, signed envelopes
- Statement of Purpose (SOP)
- ○ One page on your academic goals, career plans, and reasons for choosing your program/university
- Recommendation Letters
- ○ 2–3 from professors (on letterhead, signed, sealed)
- Bank Statement
- ○ Proof of funds (on bank letterhead, signed and sealed), showing at least one year’s tuition and living expenses (or more, if required)
- Affidavit of Support
- ○ Original, notarized on ₹20 Non-Judicial Stamp Paper (if sponsored)
- Application Fee
- ○ As specified, paid in local or international currency
- Covering Letter
- ○ Summarize your plans (tests taken, score reporting, gaps, or special circumstances)
Important Tips
- ● Apply Early:
Universities often process applications on a rolling (first-come, first-served) basis. - ● Follow University-Specific Instructions:
Some require additional or alternate financial forms, or digital applications. - ● Personalize Documents:
